Silent Reflux Symptoms

The most common symptoms of silent reflux include:

  • Chronic cough, often a ‘barking’ type of cough
  • Hoarseness
  • Atypical chest pain (or non-cardiac chest pain)
  • Frequent throat clearing (with feeling of a continual lump in the throat)
  • Sore or burning throat
  • Shortness of breath and respiratory problems such as wheezing, bronchitis symptoms and COPD
  • Snoring/sleep apnea
  • Sinusitis
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Tooth decay
  • Constant mucus/phlegm
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Bad/bitter taste in mouth or bad breath (especially in morning)
  • Ear pain and/or continual ear infections
  • Increased difficulty treating underlying asthma

Unfortunately, many doctors are unaware that symptoms such as chronic cough may be caused by silent GERD. In addition, because the symptoms of silent reflux mimic the symptoms of asthma, it is a common misdiagnosis for this condition. Fortunately, the physicians and staff at our Heartburn Solutions Center are highly trained and skilled in identifying silent reflux.

If have any of the symptoms listed above, relief may be just a phone call away. Contact us at 404.501.RFLX for more information.
