admissions criteria

Due to their complex medical/rehabilitative needs, patients at Emory's LTAC typically experience a two- to six-week length of stay. Patient diagnoses typically fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Neurological disease
  • Infectious disease
  • Severe stroke
  • Renal dysfunction
  • Multi-system failure
  • Cardiac disease
  • End-stage respiratory distress
  • Ventilator weaning
  • Wound care
  • Severe malnutrition requiring TPN
  • Catastrophic injuries
  • Extensive post-operative complications
  • Complicated orthopedics

Each patient referred to Emory Long-Term Acute Care is evaluated by a medical professional to assure that he/she meets admission criteria. Pre-admission screenings are free. To schedule a screening, call 404.501.6262.
