DeKalb Medical is proud to offer a variety of educational and professional development opportunities at all levels. We have residency programs in Atlanta in Nursing, Podiatry and Pharmacy, as well as a School of Radiologic Technology.
Our paid nurse residency programs provide a variety of learning and professional growth opportunities for new nursing graduates as well as experienced nurses. Our comprehensive orientation program includes classroom and clinical time under the direction of a dedicated preceptor on the assigned unit.
The nurse extern program at DeKalb Medical gives rising junior and senior nursing students the opportunity to work while going to nursing school plus earn compensation credit for extern experience upon graduation from nursing school and passing NCLEX.
DeKalb Medical offers a one-year ASHP-accredited Post-graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy residency program. This program is precepted primarily by our clinical specialists who have completed ASHP-accredited residencies and/or obtained board certification in their specialty areas. The program is designed to prepare pharmacists for clinical positions in acute care settings or for pursuing further specialized training in a PGY2 residency program.
DeKalb Medical Podiatry residents receive extensive surgical training and are involved in the assessment and treatment of patients with a great diversity of pathology on a daily basis. In addition, many of the attending surgeons at DeKalb Medical in Atlanta are recognized nationally and internationally as the leading surgeons and educators of foot, ankle and leg pathology, providing a valuable learning experience for our residents.
The DeKalb Medical School of Radiologic Technology offers a 24-month, 40-hour-per-week, full-time certification program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to become a registered technologist in radiology, R.T (R).
