Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Van
Our Community Health Program
Wellness on Wheels is a traveling clinic that offers free preventive healthcare and health education to medically underserved communities in the Buford Highway corridor, Clarkston and south DeKalb County. The community health program staff speaks English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Free screening mammograms are offered to women who have no health insurance, Medicaid or Medicare coverage, and are age 35 or older.
The new van, which replaced the original van used in 2009, now has a permanent digital mammography unit on board instead of a portable analog unit that had to be moved on and off the old van. The new mammography unit provides the same detailed image that patients receive in the hospital. In addition to mammography, Wellness on Wheels offers more community health program services such as hearing, vision, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings as well as adult and pediatric immunizations to medically underserved communities in DeKalb.
Please contact Wellness on Wheels for more information about scheduling appointments. Read more here for a list of on-site mammography screening Frequently Asked Questions.
