DeKalb Medical provides a wealth of physical, occupational, and speech
therapy services while patients are admitted in the hospital, including:
- Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of case
managers/social workers, nurses, and physicians. Our physical,
occupational, and speech therapists work with an experienced
interdisciplinary team to initiate bedside physical, occupational,
and/or speech therapy services for our patients and their caregivers.
Our goal is to maximize function, facilitate the healing process, and
assist with discharge planning to help patients receive the most
appropriate next level of care.
- Physical and Occupational Therapy is provided for a wide variety
of medical diagnoses/conditions, including limb amputation, stroke,
cancer, deconditioning, and post-surgical patients. Our orthopedic
patients include those treated after total joint replacements, spinal
surgery or fractures. Our Occupational and Physical Therapists are
focused on maximizing mobility, function, and independence after
surgery. Peruse our site to learn more about our Joint Solutions Center
- Speech Therapy is available for all patient ages and includes
neonatal assessment and feeding assistance, as well as comprehensive
assessments and therapy for articulation, fluency, and/or language
processing disorders from developmental delay, neurological disorders,
or injury to the speech and swallowing mechanisms or brain. DeKalb
Medical’s Speech Therapists provide these speech therapy services, with
the exception of the neonatal and infant services, at all campuses:
North Decatur, Hillandale, and LTAC.
- Neonatal Program includes physical, occupational, and speech
therapy services which prepare your baby for a healthy homecoming. Our
specially trained neonatal therapists work with you and your baby to
teach developmental positioning, feeding and activities of daily life to
