Emory Decatur Hospital and Emory Hillandale offer some of the most advanced vascular imaging technologies in the area to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of cardiovascular conditions and diseases. The term cardiovascular refers to the heart (cardio) and the blood vessels (vascular). The cardiovascular system includes arteries, veins, arterioles, venules and capillaries.
These tests are performed at DeKalb Medical:
Abdominal Aortic Artery Scan – A test using ultrasound technology to measure the size of the abdominal aorta
Ankle-Brachial Index – A test that measures the ratio between the pressure in your arms and the pressure in your legs, which indicates how well blood flows to the legs
Carotid Artery Scan – A vascular imaging test using ultrasound technology to measure the amount of dangerous plaque that may be built up in the carotid arteries and the speed of the blood flow in these arteries
Echocardiography – A digital vascular imaging test that uses sound waves to create a moving picture of your heart and allows the doctor to see your heart beating and to see many of the structures of the heart
Vascular Ultrasound – A vascular imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of organs and systems inside of the body
