Community Services and Programs

The Community Outreach department at DeKalb Medical is dedicated to integrating DeKalb Medical service lines and physicians into the surrounding area. Established as a method to introduce the latest in medical advances and methods for wellness to current and potential customers at DeKalb Medical, the Community Outreach department is committed to connecting with a broad base of learning venues, including:

  • Speakers Bureau - Physician and health expert speaking engagements by request (Email Beth Jansa or call 404.501.7481 for more information.)
  • Health talks by physicians covering orthopedic, cancer and vascular topics and more
  • Lunch-and-learn sessions, such as Stroke Awareness
  • Free basic health screens
  • Special events such as the Puberty Rocks series, one for boys and one for girls
  • Senior Spectrum, activities for senior citizens

Check the latest issue of our Healthy Living Calendar for a list of upcoming talks that are held at various locations on and off campus.

In The Community (Upcoming Events)

DeKalb Medical is excited to be a part of many upcoming festivals and community events. These are wonderful opportunities to reach our target audience and let the community know about our quality services. Volunteers at the DeKalb Medical tent will assist with the Wellness Prize Wheel and distribute hospital information. Our doctors are invited to meet the public and/or offer blood pressure screenings. We need several volunteers and doctors to cover each shift and maximize our visibility so sign up with a co-worker. Volunteers receive a DeKalb Medical t-shirt.

To volunteer, please email Beth Jansa, Community Outreach Manager at beth.jansa@dekalbmedical.org. Please call 404-501-7481, if you have questions.
