Emory Decatur Hospital offers many cancer support groups for Atlanta women recovering from cancer. One of our most popular groups is the American Cancer Society’s Look Good…Feel Better program. This cancer support group is a free, non-medical national public service program that has been helping women deal with appearance-related changes from cancer treatment since 1989.
Every woman recovering from cancer has her own approach to the very personal changes brought about by cancer treatment, but the more you know about your options, the better able you are to feel good about the results. The techniques you will learn at the Look Good…Feel Better program will help you develop your own personal style. From make-up to wigs to hairpieces to nail care, this cancer support group will help you feel and look your best throughout your cancer journey.
If you haven’t yet begun treatment, you may not know what to expect. Some women do not experience hair loss during treatment and some do. Many women recovering from cancer experience some skin, facial and nail changes during cancer treatment. Remember that these side effects vary from person to person and are almost always temporary. With Look Good…Feel Better’s make-over hints and hair help, you can take charge of these challenges and feel great about who you are.
