Golf Tournament Raises Record Amount for Hospitals' Surgical Suites

October 02, 2018

For Immediate Release

The 24rd annual Charles B. Eberhart Memorial Golf Classic raised a record $212,000 in corporate sponsorships to support much-needed renovations to the surgical suites at Emory Decatur Hospital and Emory Hillandale Hospital.  The hospitals were formerly DeKalb Medical at North Decatur and DeKalb Medical at Hillandale.   The DeKalb Medical system became part of Emory Healthcare on September 1.

Nearly 200 golfers participated in the event, which was hosted by the DeKalb Medical Foundation Monday, Aug. 27, Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek.

Generous corporate support made this annual event possible. Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner served as the tournament’s Title Sponsors. Organizers for the event were grateful for the support of several new sponsors, including Emory Healthcare, which served as a first-time Titanium Sponsor.  Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service also served as a Titanium Sponsor. The tournament was followed by an awards banquet sponsored by new supporters Advanced Urology Institute of Georgia and Southern Refreshment Services, as well as Atlanta Consulting Group; Atlas Settlement Group; EPIC Response; Pinnacle 33 Signage Solutions; RL Solutions, and  Scott Steinberg, M.D.

Funds raised through the tournament will fund the hospitals’ surgical suite renovation project. Improvements to the O.R. will include new equipment, such as tables, monitors and updated lighting. This new environment will streamline surgical procedures, reduce wait times and provide our patients with better care supported by the most advanced technology.

Dee Keeton, DeKalb Medical Foundation Board Trustee, who serves as chair for the tournament, said she was thrilled by the generosity of participants and sponsors.

“This is an event we look forward to every year. We are so fortunate to have the support of so many in our community,” she said. “This was an especially significant tournament, as it marked the beginning of our new relationship with Emory Healthcare. We’re excited to grow in this next chapter, and we know we wouldn’t be where we are today without the generous commitment of so many.”
