DeKalb Medical paid tribute to Dee and Dr. Bill Keeton, M.D. with a ceremony recognizing their contributions to medicine and philanthropy and naming the newly renovated auditorium in their honor.
“The Keetons have done so much for DeKalb Medical through their years of service and philanthropic work,” stated DeKalb Medical President and CEO John Shelton. “Their hard work has made DeKalb Medical a hospital their community is proud to claim.”
Together, the couple has contributed more than 75 plus years of hands-on patient care and advocacy to alleviate human suffering and enhance the quality of care at DeKalb Medical and across Georgia. Additionally, the Keeton’s recent donation to The DeKalb Medical Foundation’s Advancing Hope and Healing capital campaign contributed to a record fundraising year for the Foundation which reached its goal ahead of schedule.
“We want to give back to a place that has given so much to us,” said the Keetons of DeKalb Medical and the Foundation. “However much we give, we feel we get so much more back because it just multiples.”
Dee, a former ICU nurse at DeKalb Medical, eventually became interim CEO of Decatur Hospital and Director of Patient Relations at DeKalb Medical. Dr. Keeton has dedicated much of his life to keeping DeKalb Medical at the forefront of science and medicine. While serving as Chief of Anesthesia at DeKalb Medical, Dr. Keeton was responsible for founding one of Atlanta’s first pain centers where he helped revolutionize the treatment of chronic pain.
