DeKalb Medical Names Rudy Castorina as Emergency Management Coordinator
March 18, 2013
DeKalb Medical recently hired Rudy Castorina as Emergency Management Coordinator. His responsibilities for all three campuses include ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff; ensuring the necessary tools are available for employees to respond to any internal and external emergency; and training administration and management-level positions how to respond to any type of emergency.
Castorina’s previous experience includes serving as Director of Security and Emergency Preparedness, and Emergency Management Coordinator at South Fulton Medical Center. He was previously Director of Safety, Emergency Management, Emergency Communication and Security at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. For five years he served as Safety Coordinator at Crystal River Nuclear Plant in Florida.
Already in his brief tenure at DeKalb Medical, Castorina helped oversee the hospital’s participation in a county-wide disaster drill, leaving him impressed.
“Of the different places that I have worked, I have gotten more positive responses from management and staff when it comes to interfacing than I ever have in my years in working in emergency preparedness and safety,” he said. “The culture at DeKalb Medical is positive and the people here really do care.”
