DeKalb Medical Names Roy Gilbreath Chief Medical Officer

DeKalb Medical welcomes Roy “Reg” Gilbreath, M.D.,FACP., as the new Vice President/Chief Medical Officer.
Gilbreath joins the organization with more than thirty years of clinical experience. Prior to joining DeKalb Medical, Gilbreath served as the Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Georgetown Hospital System in Georgetown, South Carolina. While in this role he was influential in leading the organization to Lean Six Sigma transformation, improving service excellence and implementing effective, organizational-culture change.
Gilbreath has used his knowledge and experience beyond direct patient interaction. He is a published author, with a book entitled Health Data Quest (Schilp and Gilbreath, Jossey-Bass Publishers 2000, San Francisco) which focuses on process improvement and the effective and efficient use of healthcare data.
Known to the community as “Reg”, Gilbreath also served as Chief Medical Officer for the Gwinnett Hospital System for nearly 10 years, making the move back to the Atlanta area an easy transition. Gilbreath earned his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before completing his master of business degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
