Living Well With Diabetes – Dr. Daryl Sherrod
August 16 - Hillandale Radiation Oncology Theatre, 2745 DeKalb Medical Parkway, Lithonia
6:30-7:30 p.m.

There is no cure for diabetes, but it can be managed. Balancing the food you eat with exercise and medicine, if prescribed, will help you control your weight and can keep your blood glucose in check. Join Dr. Daryl Sherrod as he discusses ways to keep your blood glucose, blood pressure and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels close to normal to prevent complications of diabetes such as damage to the eyes, heart, blood vessels, nervous system, teeth and gums, feet and skin, or kidneys. You can be one of the many people with diabetes living long and healthy lives.

Most people know the importance of detecting breast cancer early, but many forget to take the necessary steps for early diagnosis. Hear from our physicians and nurse navigators on how to reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. Receive tips on how to be a good steward of your health by making diet and lifestyle changes.

Kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with this fun and informative women’s celebration. Bring a bra to “bling” or decorate one that we provide. Decorated bras will be displayed at the Hillandale Breast Center.

Ever see the top 10 lists for foods everyone should eat to superpower your diet? Ever wonder which will mesh with your diabetes meal plan? Wonder no more. Your list of the top 10 diabetes superfoods has arrived.

As with all foods, you need to work the diabetes superfoods into your individualized meal plan in appropriate portions. All of the foods in our list have a low glycemic index or GI and provide key nutrients that are lacking in the typical western diet such as: calcium, potassium, fiber, magnesium, as well as vitamins A (as carotenoids), C, and E.
