Shahid Rafique, M.D.

Dr. Rafique’s moto is “We treat people, not diseases”. This statement reflects his approach to patient care. He treats a patient as an individual who may have problems with many organ systems but all ailments have to be seen and treated in their true perspective.

Dr. Rafique graduated in 1977. He completed his residency from SUNY at Buffalo, NY. He served the Armed forces as a Physician overseas and got training in general surgery, urology, anesthesiology and aviation medicine. With such rich training and over 40 years of experience in clinical medicine, he is uniquely qualified to manage complex conditions in which various organ systems are involved. Typically, a patient with various medical, surgical, orthopedics, urological and psychiatric conditions would have to see 3 or 4 different specialists. Dr. Rafique is able to handle most common conditions in the office and uses specialists’ consultation only when absolutely necessary. That saves time, money and pain & suffering for the sick patient and his/her family.

Dr. Rafique also sees some disabled patients at their homes. He has been following some of them for over 10 years, thereby avoiding hospitalizations, pain and suffering. Over the weekend he volunteers at a free clinic in Clarkston, GA. He and his wife also manage the Light Foundation, a charity for the refugee families & children in Clarkston, GA.

Dr. Rafique is married and lives in Snellville, GA since 1997. He is a musician, photographer, aviator and has special interest in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
