Dr. Attaway is a native-born Georgian who attended the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. After working with several medical groups in the southeastern United States, Dr. Attaway has made his healthcare home at DeKalb Medical Physicians Group Killian Hill Primary Care since 2002. He is board certified in family medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, Medical Association of Georgia and the DeKalb Medical Society.
Dr. Attaway enjoys treating patients of all ages, with a special interest in diabetic screening and preventive care. Same day appointments are available for patients with acute illnesses. He can provide care for chronic conditions and illnesses, health screenings, preventive medicine, sports physicals, immunizations, and women’s healthcare and gynecology. Dr. Attaway has a special interest in music, history, genealogy and stamp collecting. He and his family reside in the Lilburn area. Dekalb Medical Physicians Group Killian Hill Primary Care and Dr. Anderson are affiliated with Dekalb Medical.
Dr. Burkmar is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She graduated from the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program where she served as Chief Resident in her senior year. She also has an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Davenport University. Dr. Burkmar was awarded the prestigious Keith Ellis, M.D. Resident Scholarship Award in 2014 by the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians for her leadership in academics, community affairs, and for her outstanding contributions as Chief Resident. Dr. Burkmar also serves as a trustee for the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance, the philanthropic arm of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Burkmar is a board-certified diplomate of the Obesity Medicine Association and is able to work closely with patients that suffer from obesity by providing a comprehensive, individualized plan that may include diet, physical activity and overall lifestyle changes. Patients that make the decision to undergo bariatric surgery will be able to seek the assistance they need from Dr. Burkmar on best practices for both pre and post-surgery care.
Dr. Burkmar enjoys treating patients of all ages, including newborns and geriatric patients. She has a special interest in women's healthcare and gynecology and provides expertise in birth control counseling. She is able to perform IUD Mirena® insertions as well as the Nexplanon® implant.Dr. Burkmar takes a special interest in adolescent health, preventive medicine, and the management of chronic illnesses including diabetes. She is also an Adjunct Professor with Emory University School of Medicine and frequently teaches medical students in her clinic.
Nikki Taylor attended the University of Michigan where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology. She earned her Masters of Medical Science shortly after from Emory University School of Medicine. She is NCCPA certified as a Physician Assistant, licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners, and a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
Prior to working with DeKalb Medical, Nikki worked as a PA at Snellville Internal Medicine for over 10 years. She has experience working with adult patients ranging in age from late adolescence through the geriatric years. Nikki enjoys primary care medicine where she can develop trusting, lasting relationships with her patients. Her goal is to provide quality, compassionate healthcare with an emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention and patient education.
Nikki is married and has a daughter. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family at the park, playing tennis, and bike riding.
