April L. Speed, M.D.
April L. Speed, M.D. is a native of Atlanta. Dr. Speed is a highly sought-after speaker, lecturer and consultant on breast cancer and breast health. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Speed completed an intensive dual breast surgical oncology surgery fellowship with an emphasis in oncoplastics as well as the Susan G. Komen Multidisciplinary Fellowship with a focus on breast cancer awareness, prevention and education. Both fellowships were at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, a world leader in cancer care that awards only two fellowships in breast surgery per year. The Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure® is “the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.”
Prior to her work at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Speed completed both her residency and internship in general surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta through Morehouse School of Medicine. She also earned her Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse.
