Raoul Mayer, M.D.
Dr. Mayer has been on staff at DeKalb Medical for over 18 years and is a graduate of Columbia College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He completed his General Surgery training at Mount Sinai Hospital and Colon and Rectal fellowship at the University of Minnesota. In 1997,he joined the staff at DeKalb Medical.
Most recently, Dr. Mayer was appointed to DeKalb Medical’s executive team as the Vice President of Medical Affairs. Additionally, Dr. Mayer has served as Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Physician Advisory Committee and has been involved with many hospital leadership committees. He values the outstanding care provided by the medical and nursing staff at DeKalb Medical and is committed to preserving our institution.
Dr. Mayer’s wife, Agnes Han, M.D. is a Gastroenterologist and his son, Andrew is a high school student at Woodward Academy.
Luz P. Angel, M.D., FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Luz Angel is a graduate of Columbia University and New York University School of Medicine. She completed her General Surgery residency and gained research experience at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York followed by her Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York. She is board certified with both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Angel has most recently served as an Attending Surgeon and Assistant Director of the Residency Program in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Northwell Health System. Additionally, she held the role of Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
