R. Allen Lawhead Jr., M.D.
R. Allen Lawhead, Jr., M.D. F.A.C.S., is board certified in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics and gynecology. He is a nationally recognized expert in gynecologic oncology and a leading proponent of patient-centered cancer care. Dr. Lawhead received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina Medical School in Charleston, SC and served his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC with a resident rotation in gynecologic oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr. Lawhead served on the faculty at Emory University Hospital after completing his fellowship. He now serves as Chairman of the Cancer Executive Team and Medical Director of the DeKalb Medical Cancer Center.
He has been recognized as one of America’s best doctors by Castle Connelly, Strathmore’s Who’s Who Registry for the Healthcare Industry, and repeatedly named as one of Atlanta’s Top Docs by Atlanta Magazine. He has a long list of articles, book chapters, abstracts and presentations, which he has contributed to his field. He is a passionate, sought after spokesperson on women’s health issues.
What separates Dr. Lawhead from most physicians in his field is not just his impressive background of accomplishments, but his absolute commitment to providing excellent care for his patients. Elizabeth P. Rambo, MMSc, PA-C
Elizabeth P Rambo, MMSc, PA-C is a licensed physician assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She graduated from the Emory University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program in 2003, had advanced training at University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, certified by the ASCCP in advanced colposcopy and is chemotherapy certified. She has been with Dr. Lawhead's practice since 2004. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and preceptors in the education of PA and medical students. In addition to caring for her patients, she believes in giving back to her community and regularly volunteers.
