DeKalb Regional Health System Board of Directors
Longtime DeKalb Medical Board Member and Chairman Oliver Lee passed away on February 13, 2013. Mr. Lee became part of the DeKalb Medical family in 1988 when he was appointed to the DeKalb Hospital Authority. Over the years, he played a very active role in the growth and development of the DeKalb Regional Health System and spent untold hours devoted to the work of our health system. His leadership will be sorely missed.
DAVID L. JOLLAY (Chairman)
David Jollay is president of Jollay Masonry Contractors, performing masonry work on large scale commercial, industrial and institutional construction projects across the Southeast. He was appointed to the DRHS Board in 2003. Mr. Jollay serves on the DeKalb Medical Center Board and the Decatur Health Resources Board. In addition, he serves on the Finance Committee and chairs the Executive Compensation Committee of the DRHS Board.
ROBERT E. WILSON (Vice Chair)
Robert Wilson joined the DRHS Board in 2005. He is a practicing attorney with the firm of Wilson, Morton & Downs in Decatur, Georgia, and has previously served as Chief Public Defender and also District Attorney for DeKalb County. Additionally, Mr. Wilson has served the State of Georgia in many capacities during his legal career. He chairs the Strategic Planning/IT Committee of the DRHS Board and is Chairman of the DMC Foundation.
DANIEL J. THOMPSON (Secretary)
Daniel Thompson is a retired corporate attorney, formerly Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the BellSouth Advertising and Publishing Group in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been a member of the DRHS Board since 2003 and chairs its Human Resources Committee.
CHARLES L. CLIFTON, M.D. (Treasurer)
Dr. Charles (Chip) Clifton is a board certified anesthesiologist, who has been a member of the DMC medical staff since 1990. He was elected to the DRHS Board in December 2008.
CATHERINE M. BONK, M.D.
A practicing physician at Atlanta Gynecology & Obstetrics since 1993, Bonk replaces Gulshan Harjee, M.D. Bonk is a certified fellow at the American College of Obstetricians and is a Certified Physician Executive. She currently serves as a board member for the DeKalb Physician Hospital Organization and is treasurer of the Georgia OB/GYN Society. Her DeKalb Medical leadership positions included Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology and member of the Medical Executive Committee.
DENNIS R. BYERLY
Dennis R. Byerly was appointed to the DeKalb Regional Health System’s Board of Directors in 2012. Retired since 2006, Byerly currently serves as a revenue cycle consultant to several healthcare organizations, and brings more than 20 years of executive-level experience, financial management and healthcare knowledge to the board. Byerly has filled the board appointment previously held by the late Terry Duis.

KENNETH HARPER, M.D.
Dr. Kenneth Harper has been a member of the medical staff at DeKalb Medical since 2001 and a member of the DeKalb Medical Hillandale staff since 2005. He is board certified in family medicine, and his current memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.
GREGORY B. LEVETT, SR.
Gregory Levett, Sr., is the founder and CEO of Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes in Decatur, Scottdale and Lawrenceville, Georgia. He has served on the DRHS Board since 2001 and also chairs the DeKalb County Hospital Authority. Mr. Levett serves on the Finance Committee and chairs the Hillandale Advisory Board.
SUSAN PARRY
Susan Parry, M.S. R.N., is former Vice President of Patient Care Services for DeKalb Medical. She brings nearly 50 years of nursing and managerial experience to her position on the board.
MICHAEL A. QUINONES, M.D,
Dr. Michael Quinones is a board certified general surgeon, who was elected to the DRHS Board in July 2007. He joined the medical staff in 1994.
JOHN A. SHELTON JR., FACHE
John Shelton has over 20 years of healthcare experience, with 17 of those years at Baptist Health System. Shelton was named Alabama Young Health Executive of the Year by the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He served as the COO of DeKalb Medical for seven years and was recently promoted to president and CEO of the three hospital healthcare system.
DONALD E. SMITH
Donald Smith is a managing director of AmSouth Bank. He holds an MBA in finance and served as a director with Wachovia Bank for 17 years prior to his current role. Mr. Smith has served on the DRHS Board since 2003, is a member of the Finance Committee, and currently serves as chairman of the Audit/Compliance Committee.
