    Award for Performance Improvement and Efficiency. 
  • The Maternity Services Department was named a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. 
  • DeKalb Medical received the Blue Distinction + Certification from Blue Cross Blue Shield for proven history of delivering exceptional care and results.
  • DeKalb Medical received the U.S. News & World Report High Performing Hospital for knee replacement surgery through the Joint Solutions Center. 
  • DeKalb Medical Hillandale and North Decatur received the Sepsis Top Performer Awards.

  • DeKalb Medical became a Certified Medical Fitness Facility by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA), the country’s leading organization dedicated solely to medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities.

2016

  • DeKalb Medical received the 2016 Truven Health Advantage Award for Performance Improvement and Efficiency.
  • DeKalb Medical was chosen to participate in The Association of Women's Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) collaborative on postpartum hemorrhage.
  • DeKalb Medical has been chosen to be a pilot hospital for AWHONNs Maternal-Fetal Index Program.
  • DeKalb Medical earned the international “Baby-Friendly” Hospital Initiative (BFHI) designation from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. DeKalb Medical is the first hospital in Georgia to achieve this prestigious designation. In addition to the “Baby-Friendly” designation, the hospital was also awarded a 5-STAR Hospital Recognition from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
  • DeKalb Medical at Downtown Decatur - Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) received Joint Commission Gold Seal® Disease-Specific Care Certifications for Wound Care, Respiratory Failure and Acquired Brain Injury. LTAC demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care, and is recognized for its dedication to continuous compliance with these state-of-the-art standards.

2015

  • DeKalb Medical at North Decatur’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team earned First Place in the Josh Nahum Infection Prevention category of the 2015-2016 Partnership for Health & Accountability (PHA) Quality and Patient Safety Awards. The team was recognized during the 2016 Georgia Hospital Association Quality and Patient Safety Summit.

2014

  • DeKalb Medical received a 5-year re-accreditation (2014-2019) from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep medicine services.
  • Comprehensive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Accredited Center designation awarded to the Surgical Weight Loss Center as being 100 percent compliant with Standards 1 - 7 outlined in the Resources for Optimal Care of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Patient 2014 - MBSAQIP Standards and Pathways Manual.

2013

  • DeKalb Medical’s campuses at North Decatur and Hillandale have been named to the Georgia Hospital Association’s (GHA) Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) Core Measures Honor Roll. DeKalb Medical at North Decatur is one of 30 hospitals in Georgia to be placed in the Chairman’s category, the highest on the list. DeKalb Medical at Hillandale is one of 18 hospitals in Georgia to be placed in the President’s category, one of the highest on the list. The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS), which administers the nation’s Medicare and Medicaid programs. The data was collected from January 2013 to December 2013.
  • The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons has granted DeKalb Medical its 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA). This makes DeKalb Medical one of a select group of only 74 accredited cancer programs across the United States.
  • The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association awarded DeKalb Medical the Stroke SILVER Achievement Award for achieving at least 12 consecutive months of 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Achievement Indicators to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
  • DeKalb Medical received a Commission on Cancer Accreditation with Commendation, a 3-year designation that recognizes the significant commitment by DeKalb Medical to provide high quality cancer care to patients. Only 15 percent of approved cancer programs qualify for this distinction.
  • DeKalb Medical received a DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award.
  • DeKalb Medical received a Five-Star Value Award recognizing DeKalb Medical as one of the top ranked Community Value hospitals in the U.S. by Cleverley & Associates.
  • DeKalb Medical received a Georgia Coverdell Champion Hospital of the Year Award for Stroke Care.
  • DeKalb Medical's Comprehensive Breast Center in Decatur, Georgia, was granted a three-year/Full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
  • DeKalb Medical was the first hospital in Georgia selected to participate in the National Cord Blood Program, the first and largest public cord blood donation program in the world. DeKalb Medical is also the first hospital in Georgia to offer free cord blood donation.
