Sleep Disorder Services: Treatment for Sleep Disorders

DeKalb Medical’s Atlanta-based sleep study technicians and physicians provide comprehensive treatment for sleep disorders. Our sleep specialists currently diagnose and assist with over 125 types of sleep disorders.

We provide the following services and treatment for sleep disorders:

  • Polysomnogram – This is a common overnight sleep study administered by our sleep specialists that monitors brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, respiratory function, blood oxygen levels, limb movements and heart rhythm to determine whether a sleep disorder exists and how to diagnose the specific disorder.

  • CPAP Titration – This is another overnight sleep study that uses a continuous positive airway pressure machine (CPAP) to blow pressurized air into the patient’s nose in order to eliminate snoring and pauses in breathing that are typical in sleep apnea. Our experienced sleep specialists use this study to determine an individual’s best airflow setting on a CPAP machine. Other types of Positive Airway Pressure that our Atlanta-based sleep study technicians utilize include BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure and Automatic/Adaptive Servo Ventilation Positive Airway Pressure.

  • Multiple Sleep Latency Test– This test evaluates how long it takes an individual to fall asleep. This test does not evaluate overnight sleep; instead, it monitors an individual as he/she takes short naps that are scheduled throughout the day. We utilize this information to further our treatment for sleep disorders in our Atlanta Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Maintenance of Wakefulness Test –This test evaluates an individual’s alertness throughout the day. Unlike other sleep studies, an individual must stay awake as long as possible throughout the day while technicians monitor various body functions. Our sleep specialists often use this test on individuals with sleep disorders who have jobs that involve transportation or other industries in which safety is a concern.

Insurance

DeKalb Medical is a preferred provider for many insurance plans. Our experienced sleep study technicians will work with your patient’s insurance company to determine if your patient’s testing is covered under his/her insurance. We will also let your patient know if any deductibles or co-payments are required.
