The Mammosite Radiation Therapy System (RTS) is a potential alternative to the traditional six-week radiation schedule many breast cancer patients who have undergone lumpectomy are prescribed. With Mammosite, the patient had a device inserted that is used to internally administer a site-specific prescribed dose of radiation during a five-day course of therapy. The device, approved by the FDA, expands the range and flexibility of post-surgical treatment options for breast conservation therapy. Radiation Oncologists performing this include David Holladay, M.D. Radiation Oncology of Atlanta. 404-501-7700.
