DeKalb Medical Center Physicians Elect New Medical Staff Officers - 2/17/2003
Decatur, Georgia, February 17, 2003–DeKalb Medical Centers medical staff recently elected new officers for the 2002-2004 term. Surgeon William Hardcastle, M.D., was elected to replace outgoing Chief of Staff Jay Coffsky, M.D. Albert Scott Jr., M.D., was elected to serve as vice chief of staff and Thomas DeMarini, M.D., was named secretary.
Chief of Staff Hardcastle currently serves as medical director of DeKalb Medical Centers trauma services. A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Hardcastle completed his residency in general surgery at Ochsner Clinic and Ochsner Foundation Hospital, also in New Orleans, in 1969. Hardcastle, who has been a member of the medical staff at DeKalb Medical Center since 1971, is board certified by the American College of Surgeons.
Albert Scott Jr., M.D., the vice chief of staff, has been a member of the DeKalb Medical Center medical staff since 1990. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Scott completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and is board certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Scott served as secretary of the medical staff from 2000 to 2002.
Thomas P. DeMarini, M.D., M.B.A., the new medical staff secretary, has been a member of the DeKalb Medical Center medical staff since 1991. DeMarini is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School and completed his residency in internal medicine at Northwestern at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Ill., and his pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
The following physicians will serve as chief of their medical departments for the next two years: Charles Clifton, M.D. Anesthesia; Stephen Holbrook, M.D., Emergency Medicine; Michael Baron, D.O., Family Practice; Gordon Brandau, M.D., Internal Medicine; Paul Browne, M.D., OB/GYN; Bill McNeill, M.D., Pathology; Ebba Ebba, M.D., Pediatrics; Todd Antin, M.D., Psychiatry; Gary Hixson, M.D., Radiology; and John Kennedy, M.D., Surgery.
