DeKalb Medical Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is the health services research arm of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The agency’s goal is to improve the quality and safety of health care. It achieves this goal by translating research into improved health care practice and policy that healthcare providers can use on a day-to-day basis.

DeKalb Medical has utilized AHRQ to analyze our safety performance as well as a resource for process improvement. DeKalb Medical has conducted the Annual Culture of Safety Survey and submitted our employees’ and physician’s responses to the AHRQ national database. By doing so, we are able to identify areas of strength and weakness that contribute to the culture of safety in our organization, and then implement evidence-based strategies for improvement.
