Chaplain
A chaplain is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The chaplain make rounds on patients regularly. If you would like to speak with a chaplain, please let the charge nurse or the front desk know and one will be called. If you would like to speak with one immediately, please make that part of your request.
Parking
Parking is free at the First United Methodist Church on Candler Street across from the hospital. However, to park there you will need a parking pass, which can be obtained at the front desk on the second floor. Please note the signs in the lot directing you where to park (first five rows).
Security
The doors on the Candler Street side of the facility are locked at night and on weekends. To enter the facility, you must go around to the front of the building or utilize the call box outside the door. A security guard is available at all times to walk you to your car—please inform the front desk staff and someone there will call security for you.
Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. We encourage visitors to honor this schedule to assist our patients in healing. Hospital rules prohibit overnight stays by visitors except in very unusual situations. Children are allowed to visit; however, they must remain quiet to ensure that patients can rest. We urge visitors who are ill to stay away until they are well again—our patients’ immune systems are low and they can become ill easily.
Where to Eat
The cafeteria is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. for breakfast and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch. The lunch menu is posted outside the cafeteria daily.
If you would like to eat outside the hospital, there are several restaurants in the area, including Kroger Deli, McDonalds, Subway, Noodle and Ruby Tuesday. Please inquire at the front desk for a map, directions or other restaurant suggestions.
Where to Stay
A hospitality house is available for lodging for out-of-town guests. For more information, please call 404.501.6294 or 404.501.6587.
There are also several motels in the area, including Decatur Inn, Holiday Inn Select Decatur and Super 8 Motel. Please inquire at the front desk for a map, directions or contact information on area hotels.
Wireless Internet Service
Wireless Internet service is provided inside the hospital. Cell phones and PDAs are allowed. However, to avoid disturbing patients, please set your phone on vibrate, and keep phone conversations quiet and away from patient areas.
